American Daylily & Perennials is a family owned company that has been breeding, growing and testing Daylilies for 25 years. R.J. (Jack) Roberson and his wife Jo operated the company in Houston, Texas until 1988 when they moved their field operations to the Kansas City area. Though Dr. Roberson has introduced many new hybrid daylilies, he is best known for his Black Eyed Stella (pp#7909), the first All American Daylily.

After twenty years of specializing in fine hybrid daylilies, Jack also began marketing the results of another breeding interest, his exclusive Patriot™ Lantana series. As the first new hybrid lantanas in more than 15 years, the Patriots revived public interest in a nostalgic garden favorite. With the introduction of the ultra compact Florastar Winner Patriot Rainbow in 1994, the popularity of the Patriot Lantana series made a rapid, giant step forward!

The rigorous test programs in which American Daylily participates sets them apart in the industry and assures the customer of the finest performance verified plant material anywhere. The All American Daylily Selection Council (AADSC) is the only organization of its kind and tests daylilies across the United States and Canada. These test sites operate by a scientific methodology which evaluates daylilies on 52 characteristics.

Additional award winning color from American Daylily comes out of the Florastar and International Plant Selections test programs. These select winners include Perfect Peach Glory (ppaf) daylily, and Lantanas Patriot Cherry, Hot Country, and Hallelujah.
